+x+xHello All,
(I sent some days ago a Mail via 'contact Skydemon' to SD- but got no answer up to now)
Subseequetnly after a accident report (SR20- 02.11.2023 Salzburg AT), the natioanal aviation administration is addressing a lack of discipline concerning some safety related items in ICAO flightplans.
The EU regulation introduced EASA - wide this :
======================================
BALLISTIC PARACHUTE RECOVERY SYSTEM
The information on ballistic parachute recovery systems may be included in the field for remarks under Item 19 of the ICAO model flight plan,
as specified in Appendix 6 ‘COMPLETION OF A FLIGHT PLAN’ to the Annex to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 923/2012.
[applicable from 1 May 2025 – ED Decision 2024/007/R]
======================================
Here the link of our Pilot's Forum , where a collegue is mentionning actual practice in some countries:
I am unable
- either
to activate a Field N and make my remarks about balistic BRS
or
to make the proposed annotation under Remarks as described in the EU- Bulletin
Has any one a solution for adding safety -related infos into the Flightplan defaults in SD (>Planning Options>General)?
Can someone from Skydemon make a comment to this?
happy landiing

It’s very straightforward to do what EASA are requiring.
In the ‘Advanced Options’ section at the bottom of the ‘Prepare flightplan’ pop-up, toggle on the ‘Show full form’ option.
Press ‘Continue’ to display the ‘Flightplan Form’ pop-up.
Scroll down, and enter any BRS information in the ‘Survival Remarks’ field second from bottom, before pressing ‘Continue’ to submit the form. SkyDemon takes care of all the N crossing-out business.
A useful enhancement that Tim might like to consider would be to include a ‘BRS fitted?’ field in the aircraft setup process, which if ticked would automatically populate the Item 19 Remarks field accordingly.
Hello Graham and Thanks!
First, I note that for setup, changings in Aircraftmodels, planning and so I use allways Win-Version on PC
My Versions are;
- PC:Skydemon Plan 4.1.0.0.
- SD Manual from 19.6.2025
- SD on Androïd V. 4.1.0.0.
- SD on ipad Mini (Bionics chip) 4.0.4.405
It is not so straightforward for me- at least as it should be.
The 'Prepare flightplan' - Pop-up is not clear for me. Nothing is labeled as such.
I am subscribed user since 2018 and flew all the time with SD, took many flights with ICAO FLP , the most generated by SD. It works seamless for CH, FR, DE. It does rarly works with IT. With AT I was using Eurocontrol.
Now, I was searching everywhere to find a clue , following your instructions:
- in the manual SD(latest) I found 4 x the mention ICAO flightplans- no news for me don't helps
- There are setups for defaults (SD reuses it each time a new FLP is created: no field 'survival remarks'
- Opening the airplane model , some essentials like ICAO addr. and coluour usw. but no 'survival' section
and finally (not so logic):
- creating a FLP in SD Adroid or iPAD:
I found the section 'survival remarks' the switch 'ocntinue is really at the place where we usually execute (to send) a completed and checked FLP (allways look twice-switch!) It seems to me suboptimal, because I will add/change base values for this spefic airplane related ICAO FLP , like a template for real FLP's.
The text written, the field goes purpur and I can nothing do then go back 1 step or send the FLP.
As I will not send the specific FLP based on a route I flew last week - I can not correctly close the process.
Next try same way: all my entries are gone.
So I wish that you add a section for this subject in the aircraft - model definitions- like colour, W&B , ICAO-Code and other basic data.
It would be more logic and can be find at any version of SD- and edited independet of actual, validated, executed FLP's and others
